Maria Alonza, Healthcare Coordinator

Los Angeles born (yet living for many years in Guadalajara Mexico) and having four younger siblings, I became responsible at a very young age. Caring and providing for their needs helped me identify what I enjoyed in my life.

During nurses training at a convalescent hospital one particularly frail senior connected with me, leaving an impression in my heart that senior care would be where I build my career. Spending ten years in skilled nursing, I worked in many roles but found teaching others very rewarding.

The Assisted Living approach to senior care allows more time to get to know the residents. When I am not in the community, I spend my time with my five children, attending sporting events, watching Home and Garden TV and the Discovery Channel. A song from the 70’s can get me on my feet to dance; and when the residents catch my energy it is the greatest!
